Sophie Mills promoted to Principal Solicitor

Sophie Mills has been promoted to the new position of Principal Solicitor, Governance and Charites. Sophie will work with Chief Executive Robert Pirrie WS in assuming responsibility for the Society’s administration and consultancy services to a portfolio of third-party charities and other organisations. The Society is currently recruiting for a Legal Executive to support Sophie and work alongside Support Associate Patricia Cheney. Sophie first came to the Society as a Summer Scholar and subsequently joined as a Trainee Solicitor after which she joined a law firm. Sophie returned to the Society in 2022. Read a profile of Sophie from Signet magazine here.

These changes follow the departure of Anna Bennett WS after 13 years with the Society. Anna has moved to become the Head of the Palace of Holyroodhouse with the Royal Collection Trust. Anna received an emotional send-off from the Society on 19 January attended by past and present trustees and everyone from the Society’s executive. Deputy Keeper Mandy Laurie WS and Chief Executive Robert Pirrie WS paid tribute to Anna’s contribution to the Society. Anna leaves with our very best wishes for success in her new role.
