Major Session Papers Collections Outwith the Signet Library

Digitized Session Papers from the University of Edinburgh Digitial Archive

Session Papers can be found in small numbers in the majority of major academic libraries worldwide, but outwith the Signet Library there are three principal collections which acknowledge the nature of Session Papers and the historical value they hold.

The world’s largest collection of Session Papers is held by the Advocates Library in Edinburgh, whose collection consists of about 4000 volumes in 50 distinct series. Access to this collection is arranged via the National Library of Scotland. For more information on the Advocates Library Session Papers click here.

Digitization of Session Papers has been led by a world leader in the techniques and technology, the Library of the University of Edinburgh, who themselves hold a substantial and important collection of papers. More information can be found by clicking here.

The University of Virginia’s Scottish Court of Session Digital Archive Project is a magnificent, world-leading presentation of Session Papers, using the Papers as a historical window onto early America and the British Atlantic world. Although an ongoing project it is already the greatest achievement in digitization of Session Papers to date.
